Welcome to Dream Machine with a fresh new blog
Skoda's popular flagship SUV, the Kodiak, is back in India with its highly anticipated second generation. Building on its predecessor's strengths, the new Kodiak arrives with a refreshed design, a completely overhauled interior, and familiar yet updated powertrain. Let's explore what makes this seven-seater stand out.
°°Evolved & Elegant Exterior°°
The new Kodiak's design is a clear evolution, retaining Skoda's signature understated class. Up front, the split headlamp design remains, but features new LED DRL signatures. The signature butterfly grille is larger and incorporates a striking segmented illumination that seamlessly extends the DRLs. The sculpted bonnet adds a muscular touch, while the redesigned bumper features functional air vents. The profile is cleaner and more rounded than before, highlighted by a distinctive contrasting D-pillar that creates a sleek wraparound effect for the greenhouse. At the rear, connected tail lamps, a stepped tailgate, a pronounced spoiler, and a silver bumper garnish complete the sophisticated look. The showcased Laurin & Clement trim rides on unique 18-inch aerodynamically optimized alloy wheels.
°°Premium & Practical Cabin°°
Step inside, and the Kodiak impresses immediately. The doors shut with a solid thud, revealing a completely new "winged" dashboard design. Premium materials abound, including wood trim, leather with cross-stitching, and soft-touch surfaces. The standout feature is the incredibly slick 13-inch freestanding touchscreen infotainment system. Practicality shines with physical buttons for key functions (TPMS, 360° camera, park assist) and a trio of innovative physical dials for the climate control:
°° Outer dials control temperature and seat ventilation (driver/passenger).
°°The central multi-function dial toggles between fan speed, volume, and drive modes, with a clear display indicating the selected function.
The center console offers ample storage, dual wireless charging pads, and a clever microfiber cloth integrated under the lid specifically for cleaning the touchscreen. Drivers face a new two-spoke steering wheel (featuring "SKODA" lettering instead of the logo) and crisp 10-inch digital dials. Front seats are exceptionally comfortable, featuring ventilation, heating, and even massage functions.
°°Space & Seating Flexibility°°
The Kodiak offers three rows of seating. The second row provides ample knee room, generous headroom, and adjustable seats (fore/aft and recline). Amenities include a fold-down armrest, manual sunshades, individual climate controls (three-zone system), and a removable center tray. A massive panoramic sunroof floods the cabin with light.
Accessing the third row is less convenient due to the seat's limited tumble range. Once seated, space is tight, suitable primarily for children on shorter journeys. Legroom is minimal, the backrest is upright, and dedicated AC vents are absent.
Boot space is versatile: 281 liters with all rows up (enough for medium luggage), expanding to a substantial 786 liters with the third row folded.
°°SportLine Option°°
The SportLine trim offers a distinct persona: a blacked-out grille (sans illumination), sportier alloy wheels, and an all-black interior theme with unique dashboard trim. It features sport seats but sacrifices the front seat ventilation, heating, and massage functions found in the Laurin & Clement trim.
Under the hood, the Kodiak retains its proven 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine, now producing °°204 horsepower°° (up 14 HP) and °°320 Nm of torque°°. Power is delivered via a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission, with all-wheel drive (AWD) as standard equipment.

While the third-row remains best for occasional use, the Kodiak strengthens its position as a premium, practical, and now even more desirable flagship SUV.
